Reece, Teunissen Receive D2CCA All-West Region Honors
POMONA, Calif. – Luke Reece and Garrett Teunissen of the Cal State San Marcos baseball team received Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-West Region second-team honors on Thursday.
Reece finished the season with a team-best 1.076 OPS, 12 home runs, 48 RBIs, .634 slugging percentage and 23 walks. The infielder from San Diego hit .354 while posting the most multi-RBI games on the team with 14 and tying for the most multi-hit games with 18. This postseason, Reece has received All-CCAA first-team and NCBWA All-West Region first-team honors.
Teunissen concluded the 2024 campaign with a team-best .380 batting average, 48 runs, 68 hits, 16 doubles, 22 stolen bases, 12 sacrifice bunts and 23 multi-hit games. His batting average, stolen base and sacrifice bunt totals led the CCAA. The Corona native had a team-high 23 multi-hit games. The CCAA Player of the Year has also received All-CCAA first-team and NCBWA All-West Region first-team honors this postseason.
Altogether, 14 CCAA student-athletes were honored. Along with the CCAA, the West Region is also comprised of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the PacWest Conference. The PacWest had 11 selections and the GNAC had seven.
Reece and Teunissen are the first Cougars to earn D2CCA All-West Region honors since 2019. They are the third and fourth baseball student-athletes to receive the honor in program history.
Voting was conducted by the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors from West Region institutions and conference offices. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
