SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Season-best shooting allowed the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (9-5, 6-3 CCAA) to roll past Cal State LA (5-10, 4-5 CCAA) and earn an 87-62 win on Thursday night at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM and Cal State LA traded early baskets with five ties and 11 lead changes in the first 15 minutes.
- A Chris Carrillo three-pointer gave CSUSM a 12-11 lead, and another triple pushed the margin to 15-13 at the 13:16 mark of the half.
- With the game tied 26-26, the Cougars closed the half on a 15-5 surge, highlighted by three-pointers from Carrillo and Remington Rofer, to take a 41-31 halftime lead. CSUSM shot 50.0% (12-of-24) while LA shot 43.3% (13-of-30).
- Jaylin Leslie opened the second half with a layup to set the tone as CSUSM's offense caught fire, hitting 62.1% (18-of-29) from the field after halftime.
- A Max Tengan three at 16:55 stretched the lead to 49-36, and a Rofer triple moments later pushed the advantage to 54-38.
- CSUSM led by as many as 25 after a Carrillo three-pointer with 9:22 to play.
