Murr Named PING WGCA Co-Player of the Year, Hernandez Selected All-West Region

SAN MARCOS, Calif – Senior Madison Murr was named the NCAA Division II PING Co-Player of the Year last week by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
 
Murr also joined Kiara Hernandez on the PING All-West Region team.
 
Murr is CSUSM's first golfer ever to win PING WGCA Player of the Year. Ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II, Murr boasted the lowest scoring average on the team at 71.1 with five wins and eight top-2 finishes this season. She was CSUSM's second NCAA Division II National Champion in program history after carding a 14-under 202 in Boulder City, Nevada, last week. The Los Alamitos native matched her career-low round of 8-under 64 on the final day. This is Murr's third consecutive All-West Region honor. 
 
Hernandez was a mid-year transfer and made an immediate impact on the team. She had five top-3 finishes and two wins in 2024-25. Her best finish as a Cougar was runner-up honors at the West Texas Desert Invitational with a 9-over 153. The junior from Burbank placed third at the CCAA Championships with a 10-over 226.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 750 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
