CSUSM Begins 2025 Season with 2-0 Victory
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (1-0-0) opened its 2025 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Biola (0-1-0) on Thursday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Addison Leite scored the first goal of the season in the 36th minute, putting the Cougars ahead with an unassisted strike.
- CSUSM held the 1-0 advantage through halftime before Gabby Marsh added an insurance goal in the final seconds of regulation on a pass from freshman Annalise Pengel to secure the result.
QUICK KICKS
- The Cougars outshot the Eagles 10-3, including a 7-1 margin in the second half. Marsh, Leite, and Danielle Paulson each recorded multiple shot attempts to lead the CSUSM attack.
- In goal, Emma Calvillo went the distance and tallied one save to earn the clean sheet and her first career win. Defensively, the Cougars limited Biola to a single shot on target while also holding a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
- With the win, CSUSM evened the all-time series against Biola at 6-6-4 while taking a 3-2-3 lead at home.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday as they travel down to San Diego to face No. 9 Point Loma at 1 p.m.
