LOS ANGELES – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (3-15, 3-9 CCAA) saw its three-game win streak come to an end with an 80-72 loss at Cal State LA (13-5, 8-5 CCAA) on Thursday night in CSULA Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Down 16-9, the Cougars rallied back to even the game with a 7-0 run capped by a layup by Lyric Richardson with 2:23 remaining in the first quarter.
- The score was knotted at 21-all at the end of the first quarter with seven different Cougars contributing points.
- CSULA outscored CSUSM 15-8 in the second quarter to take a 36-29 lead into the halftime break.
- After shooting 50.0% (9-of-18) in the first quarter, the Cougars were held to just 23.1% (3-of-13) in the second quarter. The Golden Eagles also dropped their shooting, going from 52.9% (9-of-17) to 30.0% (6-of-20) between the two quarters.
- A Rory Hetrick 3-pointer closed the gap to 45-41 with 4:36 remaining in the third quarter.
- The Golden Eagles concluded the third quarter on a 16-5 run to take a 61-46 lead into the final 10 minutes of play.
- CSULA took its largest lead of the game on a Mary Cotton fastbreak layup that made it 70-46 with 6:45 on the clock.
- CSUSM scored 26 points in the final six minutes and 45 seconds with Tatum Tamashiro scoring 16 points including four 3-pointers.
- The Cougars held CSULA to just 10 points in the final 6:45.
FAST BREAKS
- CSUSM shot 37.9% (25-of-66) while the Golden Eagles registered 46.4% (32-of-69).
- The CSULA won the battle of the boards, 41-33, while both teams pulled down 13 offensive boards.
- CSUSM tallied eight steals to the Golden Eagles' three.
- The Cougars registered a season-best 11 3-pointers for the third time this season.
- CSUSM scored 20 points on CSULA's 16 turnovers while the Golden Eagles only tallied 12 points on the Cougars' 12 turnovers.
- The Cougars still have a 13-8 lead in the all-time series and are now 4-6 when playing in LA.
