Cougars Post 3.37 GPA for Fall 2024
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos Athletics posted a 3.370 grade-point average as a department for the Fall 2024 semester.
All 13 programs recorded a term GPA of 3.0 or higher with volleyball leading the department at 3.605. It was followed by women's cross country (3.571), women's soccer (3.556), women's basketball (3.503), women's golf (3.482), women's track & field (3.468), men's golf (3.433), men's basketball (3.353), men's cross country (3.251), men's track & field (3.250), softball (3.219), baseball (3.122) and men's soccer (3.006).
"Our student-athletes never cease to amaze us with their commitment to academic and athletic excellence," CSUSM Director of Athletics Morod Shah said. "It is inspiring to see our students continue to raise the bar and excel in the classroom, defining what it means to be a scholar-athlete here at CSUSM."
Of all student-athletes, 76.7% had a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher while 50.7% had a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Following the Fall 2024 term, 79.3% of student-athletes now have a 3.0 or higher overall/cumulative GPA, and more than half (57.4%) of those students have a 3.5 or higher overall/cumulative GPA.
CSUSM had 40 student-athletes earn the Mangrum Award for Academic Excellence with a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. There were 112 Big Blue Award winners with a GPA of 3.500-3.999 while 82 earned the Cougar Award with a GPA of 3.000-3.499.
