Badrani, Murr Named Stars of the Year by SDSA

SAN DIEGO – Former Cal State San Marcos student-athletes Rasha Badrani (women's track & field) and Madison Murr (women's golf) were named 2025 Stars of the Year by the San Diego Sports Association at its 78th Salute to Champions Gala on Monday night.
 
Badrani was named a March 2025 Star of the Month after winning the NCAA Division II National Championship in the 400-meter dash at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships by tying her program record of 52.92 seconds. She became the first NCAA National Champion in program history and was the second overall CSUSM student-athlete to win one. Badrani was subsequently named the NCAA Division II West Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and a first-team All-American by the USTFCCCA.

Murr was an April 2025 Star of the Month after leading CSUSM to its sixth CCAA tournament title and earning CCAA Women's Golfer of the Year honors for the second consecutive year. Murr then went on to win the NCAA Division II National Championship in addition to being named the PING WGCA Co-Player of the Year, the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division II Women's At-Large Academic All-American of the Year, the CCAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the D2 CCA West Region Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Inkster Award winner.

Badrani and Murr are the third and fourth Stars of the Year in department history after Jaime Jacob in 2019 and Jordan Vasquez in 2024.
