No. 19 CSUSM Splits Thursday's Doubleheader at CSUDH
CARSON, Calif. – The No. 19 Cal State San Marcos softball team (19-12, 7-7 CCAA) split Thursday's doubleheader at Cal State Dominguez Hills (19-11, 12-8 CCAA), dropping the series opener 7-3 before posting a seventh-inning comeback 6-5 victory in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After leading off the game with a single to center field, Waymire scored on an RBI single up the middle by Coyle.
- Donnelly blasted a two-run homer over the center field wall in the top of the third to make it 3-0, plating Fleischman who reached first after being hit by the ball.
- The Toros got on the board in the bottom of the third on Kaylee Hull's RBI single through the right side to make it 3-1 CSUSM.
- CSUSH added six more runs on six hits in the fifth inning to close out the scoring in the series opener.

- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (10-4) picked up the loss after giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in four innings of action.
- CSUDH reliever Mariah Ramirez collected the win after four innings in the circle, allowing three runs on three hits and no walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a Fleischman two-run homer to center in the top of the fourth.
- The Toros recorded five runs on four hits including two doubles, two hit batters and two walks in the fifth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
- Fleischman hit her second home run of the game, another two-run blast to center in the top of the sixth to make it 5-4 CSUDH.
- The Cougars retook the lead in the top of the seventh at 6-5. Donnelly led off with a single, advanced to third on Coyle's double to right center and scored on Aneesa Arredondo's RBI groundout to third. Cole scored the eventual game winner on a Mackenzie Kestler RBI single down the left line.

- CSUSM reliever Savannah Coyle (7-6) collected the win after two scoreless innings in the circle, only allowing two hits and one walk.
- CSUDH reliever Sara Bhatt picked up the loss following one inning of action, relinquishing two runs on four hits and one walk.
- This was Fleischman's second and third home run of the season while raising her career total to four.
