CSUSM Splits Doubleheader Against Chico State with Walk-Off Win
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After falling 14-7 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, the Cal State San Marcos baseball team (22-20, 17-16 CCAA) earned a walk-off 8-7 win over Chico State (27-17, 20-15 CCAA) in the second game of the day at Dennis A. Pugh Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with a sacrifice fly by Jeremy Keller before a balk scored Phoenix Casias.
- Chico went up 3-0 in the second on an RBI single from Thade Miller.
- A solo shot from Dylan Unangst cut CSUSM's deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the second.
- The Wildcats erupted for six runs on five hits and two walks in the top of the third to take a 9-1 lead.
- With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Fisher Pyatt delivered with a grand slam to right to trim CSUSM's deficit to 9-5.
- An RBI single by Garrett Teunissen in the bottom of the seventh put the Cougars within three runs at 9-6.
- Chico had another big inning in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs on four hits and two walks to go up 14-6.
- An RBI single up the middle by Unangst made it a 14-7 game in the bottom of the ninth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the bottom of the second, Fisher Pyatt hit his second home run of the day with a two-run shot to right center to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead.
- A CSUSM error with two outs scored two Chico runs before an RBI double by Jesse Gadd and an RBI single by Casey Vogan gave the Wildcats a 4-2 lead in the top of the third.
- The Cougars knotted the game at 4-all in the bottom of the third as Trey Becker scored on wild pitch before Ethan Rivera earned a bases-loaded walk to score Garrett Teunissen.
- An RBI double by Michael Baker in the fifth and a sacrifice fly by Phoenix Casias in the sixth put Chico back on top at 6-4.
- Down to its final two outs in the bottom of the seventh, an RBI groundout to third by Ethan Rivera scored Dylan Unangst before Pyatt delivered with game-tying single to right as Tyler Weaver scored to make it 6-6.
- In the top of the eighth, the Wildcats went ahead 7-6 on an RBI single through the right side by Baker.
- With two on and two out in the bottom of the eighth, Victor Castaneda came on as a pinch hitter and put the game away on a 2-2 pitch with a walk-off double to left center as both runners scored to give CSUSM an 8-7 win.
