CSUSM Sees Gold-Medal Performance, School Record Fall on Second Day of CCAA Championships

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw a gold-medal performance and a 14-year-old school record fall on the second day of the 2024 CCAA Track & Field Championships at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on Friday at Stanislaus State.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES

  • Winning the CCAA Men's Shot Put Championship for the second consecutive year, Kalathan Laiwa-McKay took the event with a mark of 16.95 meters – winning by .65 meters.
  • Dre Johnson broke the school record in the 100-meter dash and qualified for the final with a prelim time of 10.62 seconds. Johnson's time broke the 14-year-old school record of 10.67 seconds set by Thomas McDougald in 2010.
  • Trevor Boaz and Sankalp Shastri qualified for the 1500-meter final with prelim times of 4:01.06 and 4:02.37, respectively.
  • Amaree Berry qualified for the 400-meter final with a prelim time of 50.40 seconds.
