TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team braved the elements on the final day of the 2024 CCAA Track & Field Championships as it earned four medals on Saturday at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on the campus of Stanislaus State.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- CSUSM's first medal of the day was gold as Sankalp Shastri won the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:57.05, beating out Chico State's Damian Garcia by .09.
- Renton McGregor earned CSUSM its second gold medal of the day with a winning 800-meter time of 1:54.79. Braden Oberg also scored for the Cougars with a seventh-place time of 1:58.13.
- Amaree Berry took bronze in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.18 seconds.
- Dre Johnson also took bronze in the 100-meter dash as he finished in 10.89 seconds.
- Gio Moya took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.82 seconds.
- CSUSM began the day with a fifth-place performance in the 4x100-meter relay as the team of Zavier Hidalgo, Elliott Wright, Adam Moe and Dre Johnson finished with a time of 43.43 seconds.
- The Cougars concluded the meet with a fifth-place performance in the 4x400-meter relay as Aeden Fernandez, Amaree Berry, Gio Moya and Mateo Gomez finished in 3:22.61.
- For his performances, Dre Johnson was named the Freshman of the Meet.
