COURSE REPORT: Carding a 9-under 279 on day one of the CCAA Championships, the Cal State San Marcos men's golf team holds a seven-stroke lead over second-place Cal State Dominguez Hills (286, -2). Gavin McCormick sits on top of the leaderboard along with Cal State East Bay's Melker Backtrom after turning in a 5-under 67 on Monday.

- McCormick tallied an eagle and four birdies in the opening round.
- Patrick Jaksch and Jason McElroy are tied for fifth place with a 3-under 69.
- Arman Rahgozar is tied for 23rd with a 2-over 74.
- Aiden Canada was one under with three holes remaining, but a double bogey and triple bogey raised him to a 3-over 75 for the day. He is tied for 28th entering the second round.
