Carrillo Takes CCAA Player of the Week Honors
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Chris Carrillo from Cal State San Marcos has been voted the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week (Jan. 13).
Carrillo came off the bench and averaged 22.5 points per game to help lead the Cougars to road wins over Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona. The freshman guard shot 64 percent from the field (16-of-25) and 55.5 percent from 3-point range (5-of-9). He added four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
The San Diego native opened the week by leading the Cougars to a 92-91 double-overtime win at CSUSB. Carrillo went 6-of-9 from the field, 3-of-4 from behind the arc, and 4-of-4 at the free throw line to score 19 points. He hit 10 field goals on Saturday (10-of-16) to set a new career-high with 26 points in 27 minutes. Carrillo also had three assists and three steals while coming off the bench.
